What is the difference between quad biking and a buggy tour?

On a quad, you sit astride the vehicle and steer with handlebars. You take an active role throughout the ride, following the guide’s instructions for the terrain and spacing. This appeals to visitors who want the riding itself to be the main activity.

A buggy has a different seating position and a steering wheel, with space for a driver and passenger beside each other. It can suit a pair where one person wants to drive and the other prefers to join as a passenger. A passenger seat does not automatically mean that person is eligible to drive.

Neither option is an unrestricted rental or a race. The guide chooses the route and sets the pace for the group and conditions. Familiar-looking controls do not remove the need for the briefing, and neither vehicle should be described as automatically safer or suitable for everyone.

Agafay quad and buggy prices: compare the full booking cost

Our standalone Agafay quad biking prices start at 30 € per person for one hour and 50 € per person for two hours. Buggy prices are 80 € per two-seat vehicle for one hour and 120 € per vehicle for two hours. The listed options include shared return transport from central Marrakech.

Why does a third buggy guest change the total so much? Three people need two vehicles. The second buggy still costs the full vehicle rate even when its other seat is empty. Likewise, two people who each want a separate buggy should ask for a quote for two vehicles, rather than assuming the shared price applies.

Which experience suits your group?

First-time riders

Both guided activities welcome beginners and include instructions before departure. Choose the vehicle you actually want to learn, rather than assuming a buggy needs no preparation. Tell the guide you are new, ask questions and use the introductory practice to become comfortable before joining the route.

Couples and friends

If both of you want your own riding experience, the individual-quad option is a straightforward choice. If one wants to drive and the other would rather be a passenger, a two-seat buggy may fit better. For a buggy driver change, ask before booking: approval depends on both people meeting the requirements and the guide identifying a suitable stopping point.

Families and mixed groups

Send the participants’ ages and say who wants to drive. Our quad drivers must be at least 16; younger guests need confirmed passenger arrangements. Buggy requirements must be checked separately. Do not reserve a child as a driver on the assumption that quad and buggy rules are identical.

Groups with different preferences should contact us before making separate reservations. We can discuss the arrangements, but two different vehicle bookings do not automatically share a departure, route or guide.

One hour or two hours: how much riding time do you need?

A one-hour activity is a good introduction if you want to try the vehicle and experience the scenery. Two hours gives more time to settle into the ride and enjoy the route, especially when the activity is the main purpose of your outing.

Activity duration is not the complete excursion time. Our one-hour buggy outing takes approximately three hours overall; the two-hour buggy is around four hours. The standalone quad outings allow approximately four hours including transfers and preparation. Shared pickups, traffic and stops can affect the return.

Activity times include the itinerary’s planned stops rather than guaranteeing uninterrupted driving. Sharing a one-hour buggy does not give each person one hour behind the wheel. Keep some flexibility afterwards instead of placing another tightly timed reservation immediately after the estimated return.

What are the Agafay trails and scenery like?

Agafay is a rocky desert of dry hills, stony ground and open views. It offers a striking change from Marrakech, but it does not have the Sahara’s high sand dunes. Expect dust and uneven terrain on both quad and buggy outings.

The exact route depends on the group and conditions. Mountain views depend on visibility, and photographs are taken at suitable stops. Secure your phone while moving rather than attempting to photograph the route while driving.

Pickup, clothing and practical preparation

Shared transfers serve central Marrakech. For a Medina riad, your meeting point may be a nearby parking area or another accessible location. Send the full accommodation name; if you are staying outside the pickup area, confirm a meeting point or transport supplement before paying.

Wear closed shoes and comfortable clothing that can get dusty. Secure loose clothing and valuables, bring sun protection for stops and pack an extra layer for cooler mornings or evenings. Helmets, goggles and a briefing are included in these tours; follow the team’s equipment instructions.

What should you check before booking?

• Vehicle allocation: individual quad, a specific shared-quad combo, or a two-seat buggy?
• Who drives: everyone’s age, passenger requirements and any requested driver change.
• Total cost: participant count, number of vehicles and transport extras.
• Timing: activity duration, full excursion length and confirmed pickup.
• Inclusions: equipment, refreshments and any separately booked activities.
